Birth is the start of a terminal process. It is not if, it is just a matter of how, where and when.
Through religion, in our so-called civilized cultures, we do our very best
to ignore the beginning and the end - sex and death. Yet both, in some form,
are on our minds most of the time. Sex is instinctive - to maintain the
species, and all fear is ultimately of death.
On that level we are just programmed human robots.
So-called terminal illnesses have been called by some as suicide.
Others say it is a wake-up call. Others say it is repressed truth -
not living authentically. Others say it is Karma.
All the people I have known who have continued to live after being diagnosed
with 'a terminal illness' did not 'fight' to live, they just did everything
they 'felt' to do that would help healing (lots of meditation) allowed their
preferences, and went with what ever was happening. Preference, not choice.
Through our conditioning we automatically want to live as long as possible.
Part is because of the fear of death, and another part out of stupidity.
What do I mean? Most people are unhappy, most of the time, yet they want to
live as long as possible. Withered old people in dilapidated bodies,
occupying expensive hospital beds, being pumped with expensive drugs - to
drag along for a bit longer. And a law against taking one's own life?!
In my experience most people do not die (or live) in a happy state. They die
fighting and struggling, with a strong feeling of regret. It is safe, to say
you would have liked to have lived more spontaneously - when it is no longer
possible. So they die in regret - without realising their dreams, or finding out where
they came from, what they are doing here, or where they are going to when
they die.
In addition to the fear of death, most people have an even stronger fear -
fear to live. Life/living is not predictable, and humans want to be as safe,
secure and predictable as possible - then get frustrated - which they take
out in anger on other people.
Consider this possibility: We are here to evolve - through our experiences.
Most people expand/evolve much more through experiences that are
not comfortable for them - yet try to avoid such situations all the time.
Again, it comes to living as totally as possible, unconditionally, in each
moment. And having fun.
Sending much love
