Talk given at the New Life Expo October 2007
Hi. Welcome. This is a talk on what I have been researching over the last
couple of years, which is on how we understand the world; how we
understand the nature of reality and what that means. What I formulated
is that we perceive reality through two different sets of awarenesses;
through the left brain and the right brain. So we're always seeing the
world in two different ways -simultaneously. But it's usually our ego
left brain that is seemingly more powerful that it overrides the ability to
see the symbolic, feeling level in the things. We just basically just see
the one dimensional level of reality which is the surface level.
It's as if we're living in a flat land where we really just see one dimension
or two dimensions – we're not seeing the levels to the reality that exist.
I mean-what makes something like Shakespeare so powerful is
that he wrote at many levels of meaning, so, the more meaning in
the thing, the more powerful it is on our psyche. We have to overcome
the conditioning we have been taught to see things from just one level
– one level of consciousness, and to open up to, (as I call my television
show) New Realities.
New Realities is the ability to see many levels at once, multi-dimensionally,
and to realize that we are these multi-dimensional beings, that
we exist on manylevels of consciousness at once. You can tell that in
the dream state, right? I mean, where do you go when you go to sleep?
You go to an altered state of consciousness, and you exist there.
We exist in those realms, and the idea behind New Realities is to
make those other realms more apparent in this world. So, right now
we're in a new time – we're moving --, this whole expo is about a
shift in consciousness.
Every year it seems like it's sort of the same thing, but there's sort of a
bunch of new things there, so – we are moving to a time where I
think the veils between the dimensions are getting thinner.
We're seeing that the lies are becoming more obvious; you know –
the government, they tell us one thing but it's obvious something
else is going on. We are really moving to a new time and a new era,
and what we need in a new era are new symbols, like I will show
you a new symbol that someone just sent me. This is called the
World Unity Flag, and this is one planet, we are one planet. We
can no longer pretend that we're not. Technology has made us
all really, really connected. When Marshal Mcluhan first came up
with the idea of “The Global Village” in the 1960s nobody knew what he
was talking about; now everyone does!
So new symbols stimulate new thought and new possibilities.
There will be more symbols coming along that will show us more of
our connection to a greater reality, but why can't we all have this
flag stand for the planet? This is called the World Unity Flag –
this is like a new symbol for new reality and it's the new symbols that
create thereality that we live in. We have to look out for new symbols.
Yes question? (pause) Maybe we'll get to some numbers –
numbers are constant. But the way we can use them can change .
Look at the computer, 1s and 0s used in different ways then the rest of history.
But what I am actually interested in are the new symbols—
that we have yet to qualify.
I think is the the artists role -that are bringing in new levels of realities,
new consciousnesses because it's the artist that is able to tap into the
unknown, tap into the non-ego mind and access what we don't know.
The artist is aware of other realities, but not through the personality ego,
but what is beyond the ego, our right brain- and that is what comes
through in art; really fine art is always ahead of its time and it's always
laughed at and not understood.
CS Lewis said “Great art communicates before it's understood.”
We have these influxes of new images and new ideas before the
consciousness of the planet is even ready, but those images that
prepares the consciousness of the collective like cubism. When Picasso
developed that it's like, “What was that guy talking about,” you know?
Then we realize he's talking about seeing something from many levels
at once. It took a whole, maybe hundred years for people to understand
it and people still aren't even understanding that. What I really
want to talk about how we understand these levels of reality
and how we create these new realities.
The idea is that: “If you don't create your reality --
one will be created for you.” That's the default position of consciousness.
If you're not an artist, if you're not activating
your creative imagination, you're going to just fall back into
the automatic programming of what you've been taught.
And as ee cummings said “If you are not an artist you go about working
for someone else who is an artist.” And when I say artist I don’t just
mean a painter, I mean anyone who has been able to active and act
on their creative imagination. To risk bringing in something that is
unknown to the conscious mind of the collective.
The idea of this human incarnation is to make known the
unknown. That was like a mantra to me, when I first heard it.
“To make known the unknown” means we're here to create newness.
We're all creative beings. We all have an active imagination and
William Blake said, “the imagination is the human being.”
Without an imagination, you're a robot. This is the key to creating
new realities – to activate the creative imagination, and to
create new concepts, new ideas - for all of us – to go out and
be artists and create the unknown, is to draw from what we don’t know about
what we know, and to create new symbols.
Symbols bring the incomprehensible into the realm of the
tangible. They permeate the world of advertising icons, everything.
They talk to our subconscious mind. They are a key to accessing the
unknown. That's my research on symbols; they're a key to accessing a
part of us that we know that we don't know that we know...
which is basically the right brain.
[Slideshow starting with the Earth leading to the outer planets & stars]
Here's a picture, but it's also a symbol of the earth and the sunset.
It's basically a symbol to our mind, to our imagination –
pictures are symbols. It's like day into night – there's so many
levels of each image that create symbols, and when you see
something like this, you take it in on one level, but your right brain is seeing it on
other levels.
I just want to explore this realm of images a little bit to kind of
blow it out of proportion. Here we have our basic symbols of our earth,
right? Earth is pretty much the larger of the inner planets and
Venus is close. These are just ideas. These actually don't really
exist in the physical world, they exist in concrete concepts in our minds.
It's like someone has told us this but we believe it. All we know is
that we're here in this room. We don't know how big the earth is,
but we're going to play with the realm of symbols because that's the
world we live in. We're just going to play – we're going to play with
these symbols. That's the earth and now this is the earth in relationship
to Jupiter, which is the biggest planet in our solar system that some
people say is a second sun. Then we have the sun in relationship to Jupiter,
and look how small the earth is, right? Our sun is basically a small star.
Now look at our sun in relationship to Actaurus, which is also sort of a
medium star.
Where are we in that span of existence? So yes-- we're taking in
these concepts, I'm giving you concepts but they're symbols of
something greater because we are connected to that largeness. That was
Actaurus and this is Antaurus – our sun is like a little pixel and we were
like a little dot compared to our sun. Isn't that amazing? That's one of the
larger stars in the known galaxy.
What does that have do to the concept of our reality and yet we're here
in the center of our heads, in our minds’ eye, yet we exist somehow
in the vastness of the cosmos and somehow we are also the centre
of the universe? We're insignificant and yet we're significant. That is the
paradox; the duality of being. That's how amazing we are in the sense that we can
be so insignificant and yet also be the centre of it all. This is something we're all trying to
understand and comprehend.
I think this will give us a perspective of a new symbology, so
we can understand that we have this infinite mind, the right brain,
can comprehend the infinite, but our limited mind can't. It is like your
computer: the left personal ego brain is the self. It is everything you
have on your own personal computer. But the right brain is your personal
computer hooked into the internet. You have access to more than you know,
yet you are tapped into that resource. But you have to move away from
your own personal data and tune into something else. But what if you
were taught that the intenet did not exist; there was no access to other
kinds of knowldge. Yet once in awhile some people would come
across the program in their brain and access the wireless.
Everyone else would say” How did you do that?” Well we all
have that program, but we have to override the previous “preference setting”
that we do not.
You have to find the program inside your self that
opens the mind to more consciousness. Stop looking at
your personal computer, your own self created dramas and go deeper inside your own non egoic mechanism, the inner-net, you can call it. The “Great Work -
the Opus Magnum” as it has been called in the ancient
mystery schools was about finding that application in ourselves and
activating it. And the way you tune into the other aspects of your
knowing is mediation, or the creative flow, or somehow disconnecting
from your personal self through a discipline and tapping into
the bigger SELF.
